Becoming A Morning Person

motivational quotes

I often find myself wishing there were more hours to the day, so i can do more things. Things like hanging out with friends and family, finishing up my work, do different kinds of exercise, spend time with Don, etc. I would complain to people around me that I don't have time to do anything because the minute I wake up > shower > breakfast > go to work > lunch > go home > rest/play futsal > sleep > REPEAT. When in reality, I do have time! Work doesn't start until 1030am for me. I am blessed to work (for myself) with flexible time. I waste a whole morning by waking up at 9-930am and only give myself enough time to get ready for work. If I wake up slightly earlier, I can clock in a yoga class, a blog post, make an awesome breakfast or read a book and even have a long morning Facetime session with Don.

This all goes back to my addiction to screens. Before getting ready for bed, I will be on my laptop with my desktop screen next to it playing a movie on Netflix. While I do work on my laptop (photoshopping, writing a post or research) I will also be on my phone chatting on messages. Sometimes, i will also have an iPad to Facetime Don while I do all of above. My mind will be buzzing with all the activity going on that it takes me longer to calm myself down for bed. I try to go to bed by 12 am but when i actually fall asleep is two hours later. :( I have this constant need to stay connected to people it is becoming really unhealthy! It's starting to take over my life!

Lately, i have been training myself to wake up early, around 730-8am. Well, i usually don't get up from bed by 9-930am, but it's a start. Even if i am not actively doing anything at 730-8am, at least i am up, letting my body will get used to the idea that "SHE HAS TO WAKE UP EARLY". What I've noticed since starting my day at 30-40 minutes earlier is I can do so much in that time! I don't rush to have breakfast, get coffee, send emails out and have a calm state of mind.

Are you a morning person? What do you do to wake up earlier than your usual alarm? I need your tips and advice!
