Mac Whirl and Del Rio Lipstick Reviews

Friday, 18 December 2015

I have two stories to tell you today. One about Whirl and one about Del Rio. Let's start with Whirl. A couple years back, Rihanna came out with her collaboration with Mac. I managed to get my hands on her lipstick - Bad Girl Riri. It was the perfect my lips-but-better colour. It quickly became my favourite every day colour. After months of using it i noticed that i didn't have to twist the tube as much to get the lipstick out = It was almost finishing!! AND it didn't click to me that the colour was limited edition. I went to the MAC counter at Perth International Airport. Asked the MUA to help me find the closest shade to Bad Girl Riri and Whirl was the closest.

When she swatched the colour on my hand, I was wowed. It's such a timeless, classic colour! I tried it on, it lifted my look by 100%. It's a gorgeous dirty rose colour with a matte finish. It wears up to 5-6 hours. It also doesn't leave that dry feeling on your lips even though it's a matte finish. It's also rumoured to be Kylie Jenner fav lip colour.

Mac Del Rio is an expensive dupe of Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick 112. This colour was my second fav lipstick after Bad Girl Riri. When I found out they are discounted, I was heartbroken and again went to a MAC counter to find a similiar colour. It's not the same shade as 112 but similar. Del Rio is a rich plum colour with brown undertones, like plum brown. Great to wear with a simple one shade eyeshadow, cat eye and contoured cheeks.

I am loving these muted rose brown lip colours! What do you think about them? Also, if you know another dupe for Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Matte Lipstick in 112, I would be ever grateful.

My Day Time Kiehl's Routine

Thursday, 17 December 2015

My favourite skincare brand is Kiehl's. I have been using them for years and have tried almost all their best sellers. I often tell myself to try something else in the market, but I find myself going back to Kiehl's all the time. I mean, why fix something that isn't broken right? A few weeks back, I dropped by Kiehl's to pick up my staples that I have run out. Below are my Day Time Kiehl's staples. Before I put the three products on, I would cleanse my face with their Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash and proceed with the products below.

Travel Make Up Bag

Wednesday, 5 August 2015

Don and i did a little traveling when he came to visit me. We went to Bangkok! When traveling, i try to keep to my makeup bag light by only taking the essentials. I always struggle to figure out what make up items to bring me with me. I tend to over pack my makeup because i don't want to forget anything important! Don't you??

Tips and Tricks To Maintain Bleached Hair

My hair is no stranger to bleach. It all started with me having long hair and wanting something different. I just moved to Perth and i wanted something different. After countless of hours of deciding what I wanted to do with my hair and even more countless hours of researching how I was going to do it. I decided i wanted to do the ombre/balayage look. Here's a little brief introduction of my ombre/balayage journey.

Lush H'suan Wen Hua

Tuesday, 9 June 2015

Back when I had long, bleached, blonde hair - LUSH H'Sua Wen Hua was my savior!!! First of all, let me tell you that this product does NOT smell nice. In fact, if it wasn't for its magic properties, I would've stayed away from it. It smells like eggs, cinnamon and rose. Such a weird combination, but it does wonderssss to your hair. My hair is healthier now (than when it was broomstick dry). This baby saved it.

Wicked Pancake Parkour

Saturday, 23 May 2015

Tucked away behind the old Hock Choon (Lorong Batai, Bukit Damansara, now known as Batai Village), is a new pancake cafe, Wicked Pancake Parlour. I went on a dinner date with dearest Joanna, a fellow blogger and ex-colleague. I wanted to try Yellow Brick Road, a cafe below Wicked Parlour Pancake, but it was closed! The next best thing was the cafe above (they are afflicated). The menu consists of variety of pancake dishes and soda floats. If you're on a diet, this is not the place for you. This cafe basically screams sugar, loooots of sugar.

Review: Berrisom My Lip Tint Pack

Thursday, 7 May 2015

It's been awhile since I wrote a beauty review. I was first introduced to the Berrisom lip tint pack from Berrisom by one of my girlfriends. She knows I *love* lip tints and I have been looking for one that it more pigmented and has lasting power. This Berrisom lip tint pack is claimed to be smudge-proof, waterproof and long lasting power. After reading reviews about this allegedly wonderful lip tint, I wanted it so badly!

#TeamDunco Wedding at Wise Winery Eagle Bay, Dunsborough

Monday, 9 March 2015

Remember when I was ranting about not getting the dress I wanted to wear for Don's brother's wedding. Well, well, well... this girl waited and waited and waited and the dress came online!! It only came in XL, two sizes too big. *sad face* It was such a beautiful dress to give up. I told myself, fuck it. I'm getting it! So I bought it, got it altered and I was good to go. But alteration took longer than usual and I only got my dress a day before i was leaving to Perth! Stress...

I was in Perth again for Don's friend's wedding and to see my baby, of course! The wedding was at the beautiful Wise Winery Eagle Bay in Dunsborough, 3 hours down south from Perth. Beautiful town! Beach. People. I love western weddings. It's simple, quick, no protocols, no awkward speeches from the emcee and fun! I had so much fun that night that I needed Don to help me back to the room. Hehehe... >.<

Natural Spring

Sunday, 8 February 2015

One of the reasons why I was in Perth in December was to attend Don's brother's wedding. The wedding was like a scene in the movies, it was PERFECT. Great weather, simple yet elegant, everything ran smoothly and timely and sigh, it was so wonderful. This might be a benchmark wedding for me.

Leading up to the day i was leaving for Perth, i was busy with work. I had deadlines to meet before leaving and at the same time, had to run errands, buy a dress, and pack! I only managed to pack the night before my flight! (I left a few things behind cause of that). Getting my dress was quite a challenge. Pei Yee showed me this gorgeous dress on Doublewoot. I was dead set on getting it, but when i wanted to check out, my size was sold out (!!!!!!!!!!). OMG..now i had to go out and look for a dress #firstworldproblems. Not having a dress, set me back big time  and made me a little panicking.

I was super duper lucky, the same week I was leaving. My office had to shut due to some power problems in the building. We had to work from home, haha in between "work" i snuck away to Paradigm Mall and managed to find the dress below. I was in and out from the mall under 1 hour. Shopping under pressure = greatest finds.

My dress was from H&M.

REVIEW: YSL ROUGE VOLUPE IN FORBIDDEN BURGUNDY

Monday, 2 February 2015

Other than blushers, i am a big fan of dark, bold and matte lipsticks or natural, my-lip-but-better kind of colours. I have no in betweens.

This is your typical story of "i wasnt supposed to buy anything, but i did". Last year, during the peak of my thesis writing, i needed a break. I was in the city, killing time to meet up with a friend. As per normal, i walked around the shops and found myself inside David Jones. The second i stepped in David Jones, i knew i was going to buy something, especially with the YSL counter right infront of the entrace. I walked around the make up counter, testing my will power to not buy anything. When my friend texted me saying he was going to be late - Thats all it took! Straight to the YSL counter.

Day skincare routine

day skincare routine

Why i havent been posting beauty related things is because... i am on a make-up ban! (I say it with pride!) I placed myself on the ban last September after spending a littttle too much time in Sephora. Surprsingly, I have been really good! Sure, i'll occasionally pick up a new lipstick, blusher or eyeliner and etc, but nothing out of the RM60 (Aud20) range. Just keeping myself at bay. I have quite a healthy collection, i need to be finishing up some of my products before new members join the clan.

With the make up ban, i focused on my skin care. 25 years old and i still break out like a teenager. I am a BIG fan of Kiehl's and have been using them for YEARS! Above is my day skincare routine.

I wash with Kiehl's Deep Cleaning Foaming Face Wash with my Clarisonic. Started using my Clarisonic again after months of hiatus. Dont why i stopped using it, but wow, I can see the differences after a few washes! Cue: break outs as well :( After that, I continue with the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution to get rid of old acne scars and my favourite Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin-Clearing Treatment. <- Okay, this thing does exactly what is says. It controls and dimisses any potential acne before it pops up! I have gone through at least 3 tubes of this and i dont think i will stop using this. This is #one product i recommend for people who are suffering from acne.

The last two products are my moisturiser and my sunblock! The two MOST important products in my routine. I use them EVERYDAY. Especially sunscreen. I am so tempted to change my skin care routine to try different products but... why fix something that isnt broken right? There are so many products to tryyy...

I cant waittttt to get off my make up ban!

SUNDAY

Monday, 15 September 2014

Last Sunday, while editing on the post below, Don sitting across me working on his assignment, looked up and announced "Its sunday! Lets go to the beach and have an afternoon drink!" I hate leaving things half way but i am a sucker for beaches, off we went!

Such a lovely day, it was sunny and windy. I forget how much Perth has to offer. I didnt take much photos of the beach (like i usually would) because #1 Don and i were having a conversation about start ups/businesses and nerdy stuffs and #2 The sun was so bright, i was wearing dark sunglasses, my iphone screen was too dark, it was too much effort to take 'artistic' photos. There i said it! i get lazy sometimes to get take photos.

Here is a cheesy photo of Donny and I. I got asked if Don is really his name. No its not, it just a nickname he gave himself after Don Draper from Mad Men. He is a good guy, pushing me to go over my limits, good and bad.

Wearing Mac's Rebel to give a pop of colour to my usual black and white outfit. Havent worn this lipstick in a loooong time, i love the berry maroon-ish colour. Rebel is a satin finish, dont wear it if you plan on kissing your boyfriend. Unless you want to make your mark on your man to shoo off other girls! I am also wearing Tarte's amazonian 12-hour blush in Natural Beauty - love this blush as well.

Sundays are supposed to be doing things you love with the people you love!

Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner (Review)

Thursday, 4 September 2014

I am back in PERTH! I was hoping it would warm up by the time i get here, sadly, it is still chilly! Im no good with cold. This is my graduation trip/short holiday to see friends and spend some time with my Donny. I thought when i get here, i would go crazy Instagram-ing pictures of what i have been doing, i don't feel like sharing any of those "moments" because i want to be in the "moment".  Like picking up coffee, walk in the park, swinging on swings and etc.  Also, i don't really care for my phone as much because my family and girlfriends know where i am and that is enough. GOODNESS! what is happening to me?! Haha! Two days ago, the idea of not having my phone can make me have an anxiety attack!

Right before i left, i was told that when i get back, i would be writing for a new coloured contact lens company. I am not big on wearing contact lens, come on, putting your finger on your eyeballs...... *cringe* but for research sake, i decided to suck it up and get myself some. Went to the shops and came out with Pure Hazel, Grey and Green coloured contact lenses.  I am wearing green eyes, what do you guys think? It's not green GREEN. But more towards, greenish-brown.

Alexa Chung is one of my secret fashion icons. She is one of my inspirations for wanting to cut my hair short. She is effortless, stylish, everything works for her! With a handbag named after her (which i secretly wanted as well) and now she collaborated with Eyeko. The sucker in me had to have it!

The Eyeko's eyeliners are sold out in all the Sephoras in Kuala Lumpur ever since it launched a few weeks back. :(  I instragram-ed a picture of me in front of Sephora saying the eyeliners sold out and #eyeko. Eyeko liked my picture!!!! :D #proudmoment I managed to get mine from a dear friend! Thank you Dahlia, i love you! I know i raved about how easy the Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner was to do a winged eye. I think the Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner is much easier. Probably because of its short tip. Its almost pen-like, making it easier to draw. It took me less than 5 minutes to draw both eyes, this is useful for my oh-shit-im-late-for-work moments.

Its carbon black. They stayed on pretty long (7 hours long!) on my lids with a slight smudge at the corners of my eyes, but that happens with all my other eyeliners because i squint a lot. It is definitely waterproof because i had to do dishes after lunch and the three lines are still there. Wear these if you are going to see a sappy love movie.

Love <3

This is me channeling Alexa Chung. A girl can dream.

Bourjois Blushes Review

Sunday, 27 July 2014

These little pot of love are one of my favourite blushers. I first discovered Bourjois on a family trip to Jakarta like how i fell crazy in love with NYX. Haha, i came home from that trip a really happy girl. These timeless blusher have been around for a long time. There are pigmented, silky and it is slightly perfumed. What really sold me about this blusher is the packaging. Its small, compact, comes with a brush and a mirror.

1. Bourjois Blush 16 Rose Coup De Foudre
2. Bourjois Blush 92 Santal
3. Bourjois Blush 03 Brun Cuivre
4. Bourjois Blush 35 Lune D'or

There is a reason why Blushingkay is called blushingkay! I love blushes! I am always reapplying my blusher because i have this need to have colour on my face. Having a compact blusher with everything (brush + mirror) is ideal blusher for me. This blush is one of the most iconic blushes! It has been around for almost 150 years. I actually bought 6 shades, but gave away 2 because i thought i was being a little greedy. Nonetheless, these Bourjois babies are the ones i take everywhere and use most.

The texture and formula for these babies are beautiful. It somehow melts easily on my face giving me that natural wind-in-my-face-rosiness HAHA! The formula definitely holds up, i find that it can last around 6-7 hours before i need to re-apply.
I do find the formula a little dry where after a while the top bit forms a layer where i have to scrape the top off to get some colour on my brush.
