Almost Every Day Look

Monday, 21 December 2015

Gone are the days when I wanted to learn how to do the perfect smokey eye, the perfect cute crease and how to blend perfectly. Don't get me wrong. I love dressing up, I love wearing makeup and all. But after years of playing around with makeup, I realised that I feel me the most when I wear minimal makeup or makeup that enhance my features. I used to be a big fan of eyeliners and would not leave the house without eyeliner. Now, I like - meh, not an eyeliner day. I am focusing more on skincare and finding what works best for me both makeup and skincare.

I call this my almost every day look because I literally almost wear this look every day. I can safely say 3/5 days of the week. The other 2/5 days are me experimenting with other things.

Makeups I use for my Almost Every Day look are

#TeamDunco Wedding at Wise Winery Eagle Bay, Dunsborough

Monday, 9 March 2015

Remember when I was ranting about not getting the dress I wanted to wear for Don's brother's wedding. Well, well, well... this girl waited and waited and waited and the dress came online!! It only came in XL, two sizes too big. *sad face* It was such a beautiful dress to give up. I told myself, fuck it. I'm getting it! So I bought it, got it altered and I was good to go. But alteration took longer than usual and I only got my dress a day before i was leaving to Perth! Stress...

I was in Perth again for Don's friend's wedding and to see my baby, of course! The wedding was at the beautiful Wise Winery Eagle Bay in Dunsborough, 3 hours down south from Perth. Beautiful town! Beach. People. I love western weddings. It's simple, quick, no protocols, no awkward speeches from the emcee and fun! I had so much fun that night that I needed Don to help me back to the room. Hehehe... >.<

Natural Spring

Sunday, 8 February 2015

One of the reasons why I was in Perth in December was to attend Don's brother's wedding. The wedding was like a scene in the movies, it was PERFECT. Great weather, simple yet elegant, everything ran smoothly and timely and sigh, it was so wonderful. This might be a benchmark wedding for me.

Leading up to the day i was leaving for Perth, i was busy with work. I had deadlines to meet before leaving and at the same time, had to run errands, buy a dress, and pack! I only managed to pack the night before my flight! (I left a few things behind cause of that). Getting my dress was quite a challenge. Pei Yee showed me this gorgeous dress on Doublewoot. I was dead set on getting it, but when i wanted to check out, my size was sold out (!!!!!!!!!!). OMG..now i had to go out and look for a dress #firstworldproblems. Not having a dress, set me back big time  and made me a little panicking.

I was super duper lucky, the same week I was leaving. My office had to shut due to some power problems in the building. We had to work from home, haha in between "work" i snuck away to Paradigm Mall and managed to find the dress below. I was in and out from the mall under 1 hour. Shopping under pressure = greatest finds.

My dress was from H&M.

SUNDAY

Monday, 15 September 2014

Last Sunday, while editing on the post below, Don sitting across me working on his assignment, looked up and announced "Its sunday! Lets go to the beach and have an afternoon drink!" I hate leaving things half way but i am a sucker for beaches, off we went!

Such a lovely day, it was sunny and windy. I forget how much Perth has to offer. I didnt take much photos of the beach (like i usually would) because #1 Don and i were having a conversation about start ups/businesses and nerdy stuffs and #2 The sun was so bright, i was wearing dark sunglasses, my iphone screen was too dark, it was too much effort to take 'artistic' photos. There i said it! i get lazy sometimes to get take photos.

Here is a cheesy photo of Donny and I. I got asked if Don is really his name. No its not, it just a nickname he gave himself after Don Draper from Mad Men. He is a good guy, pushing me to go over my limits, good and bad.

Wearing Mac's Rebel to give a pop of colour to my usual black and white outfit. Havent worn this lipstick in a loooong time, i love the berry maroon-ish colour. Rebel is a satin finish, dont wear it if you plan on kissing your boyfriend. Unless you want to make your mark on your man to shoo off other girls! I am also wearing Tarte's amazonian 12-hour blush in Natural Beauty - love this blush as well.

Sundays are supposed to be doing things you love with the people you love!

FOTD: Winged Eye

Thursday, 7 August 2014

1. Tony Moly Tint in Cherry Tint
2. Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
3. ChapStick mixstick in Lemon Berry
4. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
5. Mac blusher in Blushbaby
6. Clinique Even Better Concealer
7. Maybelline mascara
8. StriVection CC cream

It took me a really long time to master the catliner. After experimenting with many eyeliners, i have come to a conclusion that... the Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid eyeliner is the best for it! This might change...cause I'm always on the look out for eyeliners to try. Hehe, but for now, the Stila eyeliner is god send to me. Even Don complimented on my eyeliner!

I have accepted the fact that i have eyebags and dark circle, that I don't bother to cover them up. It's also because I can't find any good undereye concealer that doesn't crease or settle in my lines. Can someone recommend me a good undereye concealer??

One of my favourite products of all time is  Tony Moly Tint! This tint is the mother of all tints. It's so pigmented that your fingers will still stain after a few washes. This is one product i must stress A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. I would dot three small dots on each cheek and pat it evenly for a fresh-wind-in-my-face-rosy-cheek look. I think from reading my previous posts, it's pretty clear that I'm always trying to go for that effect but still not there yet! For this look, I used the tint on my lips. I just wanted some colour to my lips, nothing fancy, and this will last for a few hours, by a few hours i mean 2-3 hours which is considered really good as it's just a tint! Benefit's tints has got nothin' on this little gem! I bought this in Korea on impulse, this is one impulse I have never regretted.

FOTD: Clinique Fresh Bloom Blush in Peony (Review)

Wednesday, 9 July 2014

Left to Right: Urban Decay Eyeshaow Primer Potion, Clinique  Fresh Bloom Blush Allover Colour in 06 Camellia, Nyx Matte Lipstick in Nautral, Nyx Eyeliner pencil in Tropical green and Real Techniques Blush Brush

On really lazy days, i skip my foundation and concealer routine all together and just put on my blusher, eyeliner and lipstick.

I am starting to love, like big big love terracotta-ish coloured blush, i used to steer away from colours like that and stick to coral, soft pink and mauve-rosey colour. Now, i cant get enough of the colour and rotate between my Clinique Fresh Bloom Blush Allover Colour and Bourjois Santal

The Clinique Fresh Bloom Blush gives an all in one colour and super pigmented. All you need is two swipe on each cheek and it will last you for a good few hours! A little goes a long way. The colour complements my skin tone so well that it also contours my cheeks giving me the Angelina Jolie hallow cheeks. Haha! Try having high cheek bones with chipmunks cheeks, you would do anything to make it look less...Alvin-like. The blush gives me a glow that looks natural. It goes well with my favourite my-lips-but-better lipstick from Nyx. To add a cool factor to my look, i wear coloured eyeliner! There is nothing more amusing then going out with green eyeliner and have people staring or asking you if you are wearing green eyeliner like its the coolest thing on earth. HAHA!

Khaira, are you wearing *green* eyeliner?!
Yes
Cool!

Stripes and Hibiscus

Monday, 9 June 2014

Had a very eventful Saturday that lead to an uneventful Sunday. Somewhat a balanced weekend! I am starting to live for weekends. i used to take my weekends for granted because it felt like any other day. Hanging out with Don has made me appreciate the weekends more and its reminding me that my "reality" of 9-5 job is coming soon. *sad face* Weekends are going to be precious.

Sunday morning, we took Don's dog for a walk around the block of his house and Khaira, being easily amused (also i think i was missing my dad who has a green thumb) we basically stopped at every flower and herb plant, we walked by. I like flowers and plants but i don't like the gardening bit. i tried, Dad bought me a Bonsai plant that you only need to water once a week and it died. We were walking along the path and i saw pink hibiscuses. In true Khaira form, i squealed in excitement and pointed out to Don that the Bunga Raya is Malaysia's national flower. He whipped out his phone and took pictures of in the midst of me squealing. You only start appreciating your home when you are far from it.

Outfit:
Dress: Sports girl
Watch: Rip Curl
Glasses: Moscot

I love these shots because you can see my tangled messy curls, my highlights and my ombre! i have come to a realisation that my wardrobe is slowly filling up with stripes.

Funny smile because i was caught off guard to Don taking pictures. I was really happy with my winged liner that morning, considering i had only 20 minutes to get ready! I am acing at winged liner that felt like forever to master.

Below is my FOTD:

Left to Right: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hours blush in Rouge, Naked Basics by Urban Decay, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Medium Moyen 25, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Caramel, Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in black, Nivea Lip Care Pure & Natural Milk & Honey, Mac in Bad Girl RiRi.

Loving the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer for my under eyes! it definitely brightens my dark circles, but it wears off after a few hours BUT does not settle in my fine lines. YAY! This is where my YSL Touche Eclat comes in for mid-day touch ups. Such a waste to stop using it, but perfect for touch ups.

  2. Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in 53

  6. Benefit - The Porefessional Primer
  7. Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder in Beige
I wear eyeliner almost everyday and to my surprise... i dont own a single black liquid eyeliner! Off i went to Sephora and of course, no one goes into Sephora and come out with ONE thing. Besides eyeliner, i needed a new foundation that matched my current skin tone. I got the Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation, i was abit sceptical about the "illuminating" part but it turned out okay. The first itme i tried it on, i forgot to take off before going to the gym, when i got home to shower, the foundation and eyeliner stayed on good! Definitely a yes especially after sweating and all my running around.

From left to right: Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express mascara, Nars Blusher in Orgasm, Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Audacious Asphalt, Bobbi Brown Long Gel Eyeliner in Twilight, Chanel CC Cream

The Chanel CC cream - i first saw it while flipping through a magazine while waiting for my turn to thread my eyebrows. I am a bb cream ~lover~ when i saw CC cream, i was so intrigued (people always get up my pants when i use words like intrigued when talking about make up, but really!! its how i feel, anywayyy...) I told my mom about it and the Chanel loving woman went straight to the stores to get it.

One of my biggest regret was not reviewing it before buying. i was so caught up in the new CC cream hype. When i first tried it on, it was too white for me...and gave me a grey cast. In my defense, i put on too much...but really... it wasnt right. i gave it a try for a week and sadly...i stopped using it for a good few  months, until recently, i thought why not give it another chance.

The trick to wearing this CC cream for me is build up. A little goes a long way. When i mean little, think smaller than a pin size drop and build up when you need more. It does give a beautiful dewy finish thats last! I can still a slight glow at the end of the day.

I wouldnt recommend getting this, it is quite pricey for a small tube.  RM170 = AUD56 But if you have almost perfect skin and just looking for light coverage, this is perfect for you.

Whats in your bag?

Monday, 21 January 2013

Most of the contents in my handbag are makeup. I try my best not to lug around many makeups, but i cant help it! Every day i wear a different colour lipstick and i would chuck it in my bag and forget about it and the cycle continues. At the end of the week, i have to turn my bag upside down to put back my makeup at their place.

My bobbi brown sheer finish pressed powder lives in my bag. This beautiful creation is perfect to blot my shine away. I have been trying to finish my Clinique chubby stick. i probably have less than 1cm left but...that last bit seems to last FOREVER. Dont you hate it when you want to finish off a product when that happens?

My NYX lip products. i really recommend the Nyx soft matte lip cream -  my favourite would be Antwerp. I like the fact they use cities to name their products. I have a fascination for cities and collecting them makes it a little more interesting for me.

Korea is the land of beauty. During my trip there, i swear, everyone had perfect complexion and every corner you go, there will be a beauty/cosmetic shop. (i went KRAZZZY make up shopping!) It was BB cream that re ignited my love for make up and ever since then i have never looked back.

The other day, i decided to go Korean! I used all my korean products right down to the brushes.

In no order: The Face Shop Power Perfection BB cream in Natural Beige, The Face Shop Baked Shimmer Blusher in 02 Coral Aura, Etude House Precious Mineral BB Compact, Tony Moly Cristal Blusher in 03, The Face Shop Color in Gloss (the colour number rubbed off), Tony Moly Tony Tint Cherry Pink, Missha Blush Brush and Tony Moly Gel Eyeliner in Black.

i went a little crazy with my lips. The tony tint is a SUPER pigmented lip/cheek tint. Think benefit’s benetint but 10 times pigmented! On top of that, the faceshop color gloss is already pigmented and BLOOD red. hehehe..

i have to rave about the Etude House mineral bb compact, its uh-maz-zing! On my super lazy days, i would apply my concealer and power this over, and im done! it gives such good coverage that i dont need anything else. I didnt notice it until a girlfriend complimented my “flawless” finish and asked what foundation i was using.

 No foundation, just powder. :P
