5 Things I Do in a Long Haul Flight

Wednesday, 23 December 2015

I get bored really fast. I get fidgety, restless and super annoying. It's either eating, go online and shop or bombard Don with messages asking him to entertain me. Whenever I have some free time, I am always searching for things to do. Read articles online. Watch a documentary (I love watching documentaries). Blog. Work on side projects. So, imagine my boredom when I am on the plane. No internet. No phones. I have to find things to entertain myself. Every time I go visit Don, I prep myself with things to do to keep myself entertained. If you're traveling to be with your loved ones this holidays, here are some things you can do in a long flight beside sleep.

01 Read
I am not a fan of bringing books when I travel. I like reading, but I don't like bringing the extra weight. As it is my carry on would be heavy with my electronics - iPad, power bank, laptop and etc. Once I finish the book I would have to carry the extra weight back home. What I do is download books and put it on my iBooks. Saves space. I get a variety of books and no additional weight!

02 Watch movies
Leading up to my flight, I would save my tv series (Scandal, HTGAWM, Bones, Quantico) so I can watch it on the flight. Watching movies/tv series on a flight really helps pass the time. Make sure you get good earphones to block out the white noise planes make on air. Again, I upload all my movies/tv series on my iPad. Save space! Multiple uses!

03 Clean out my phone
If I get bored of reading or watching things on my iPad, I would take out my phone and start cleaning it out. I would delete all unused apps, photos, messages and etc. I often would delete at least 2-3gb worth of junk off my phone. MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS ON AIRPLANE MODE!

04 Listen to podcasts/music
If my eyes get tired from the screens, I would pull out my phone and listen to podcasts I downloaded prior getting on the flight or listen to music. This usually happens towards the last 1-2 hours to arrival. I want to rest my rests and get lost in the music/podcasts.

05 Write
I always travel with a pen and a notebook. I could write on my iPad, but nothing beats the old skool feeling of penning your thoughts and feelings on pen and paper. I get butterflies knowing that in a few hours I would be seeing Don. Writing also helps my nerves. It distracts me for a good hour or so.

What do you during a long flight? Are you traveling anywhere this festive season?
