Ways To Start Living Healthier
Running around the foreshore!
Being with Don has made me more conscious on my health. He managed to help me kick a bad habit (smoking) by telling me that facts and the effects of it to us and the people around me. Not by telling me STOP BECAUSE ITS DISGUSTING AND YOU'RE A HORRIBLE PERSON. Staying healthier and being fit is not only for you, it's also for the people around you. Friends and family who love you. When you fall sick, it's them who has to take care of you. If anything happens to you, it's them who worries about you. Their mental health goes down with your selfishness. I want a long lasting life with Don and my loved ones. Since then, I have been putting a conscious mind to be healthier, both mind and body.

Here are some things I have been doing:

  1. Stopped drinking soda and switched to water and lemon
  2. Avoiding anything sweet except for the occasional cake and dessert treats
  3. Eating more fruits. I make it a point to have at least one fruit a day. Banana or an apple.
  4. Drinking apple cider vinegar every morning before I leave my house for work.
  5. Stop buying junk food. Out of sight, out of mind.
  6. Eat green vegetables for every meal. If my meal doesn't come with greens, I'll order a side of broccoli or salad.
  7. Drink 800ml of water x 2. I have an 800ml bottle that helps me keep track of how much I drink every day.
  8. Working out, of course. Go for yoga, play futsal and just move around, a lot.
  9. Walk. This is by far the easier thing to help to keep fit. I like to park further away from the entrance when I am at a mall, just so I walk more.
  10. Get enough rest. Another habit I picked up from Don. Don is big on getting a good night's rest. He doesn't fight his tiredness like me. If he is tired, he will listen to his body and rest.
  11. Cutting down on refined carbs. I love my carbs. My rice. My bread. My pasta. This is really hard and I am still struggling with cutting carbs out from my diet.
  12. Using a fitness band. Using my fitness band has helped me keep myself on track and push me to walk or be active when I don't hit my daily target.
  13. Take supplements and multivitamins.
  14. Drink fruit infused and herbal teas to help with digestion.
I don't believe in diets, instead I believe in healthy balanced meals and the occasional naughty cheat days. I hope my little tips help you motivate to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

What do you do to stay healthy both body and mind?
