Ombre Hair with Loreal Wild Ombre kit

Wednesday, 15 January 2014

It all started with wanting to look different but still maintain my long hair. It took me almost 3 years to grow my hair to the length it is now, which is almost passing my chest level. I decided to get bangs! Straight blunt bangs. The minute I stepped out from the salon, I regretted them. I realised I didn't know how to manage and maintain my bangs! The pictures below were one of the few times I actually wore them, if not I would pin them aside or part my hair in a way that it blends with my other layers.

As my hair grew longer, I decided that it was time to cut it! I wanted shoulder length hair and bangs again and decided to think it through. I played with the idea in my head for a good month deciding that before I cut my hair, I want to do ombre. I have always liked the low maintenance and stylish bit of the ombre style and thought why not? If I didn't like it, I can always cut it off. Just my luck, I was googling how to do ombre at home. I found the Loreal Wild Ombre kit on youtube!!! It's a hair dye kit specifically for people who want to do ombre by themselves. The next day, I went to Priceline to get it, but sadly the Priceline near my house did not stock the Loreal Wild Ombre kit and I was quite taken back by the price of it, it was selling for AUD18 a box, (when converted to ringgit, it is about rm60 a box) it was a little pricey.

I don't know what came across me, I decided to see if Coles or IGA has it. Coles had it and it was even better, it was on discount! it was around AUD13 if I was not mistaken, I picked up two boxes. I bought two boxes because my hair is very thick and I know I won't achieve the shade with one session.

I did not try it until a few weeks after it, mostly because I was anxious, nervous and scared that I might ruin my hair due to the bleaching (which I did *sad face*)

First attempt - A very light gradient.

Second attempt - this time you can definitely see the ombre effect. Because I bleached my hair from black, my hair turned brownish/orangey/brassy. It was so ugly... I had to tone it to make it look less brassy. I borrowed my housemate's purple conditioner to help tone my hair and *thank god* it did "tone" my hair a little. it was less brassy and orange. Blue shampoo to tone orange hair and purple shampoo to tone blonde hair. yeah, blue shampoo is so hard to find in Perth.

Third attempt - i wasn't 100% happy with the colour the 2nd time. I decided to redye is again, this time I was happy with the ombre effect, but I wasn't happy with my dry ends. I take good care of my hair where I deep mask my hair religiously, getting dry ends was a bit of a shocker for me. That's when I decided to stop dying my hair for at least 6 months. My poor hair! By this time, I was packing up to go back to Malaysia for my summer break and the first thing I did when I got back was get my long needed haircut! my beloved hairstylist chopped off the dry ends and gave my hair a better style to show off my ombre.

Now, I don't think I am going to cut my hair anytime soon with all the effort that went through to get to current state! I am going to let my hair breathe before I do another hair dye job. ''

Addiction

Friday, 29 November 2013

I have been wanting a deep wine colour lipstick for everyday wear. One that does not need effort to put on and goes with EVERYTHING. I asked a friend if she knows any and she said to test out Diva from MAC. The sucker i am, i got excited and headed out to MAC to test it out, but.......

The minute i walked in MAC i saw the Rihanna's MAC RiRi Hearts MAC Holiday 2013, i was drawn in to the lipsticks (usually i would check out the blushers first) and my eyes zoned into the taupey-nude-ish colour. ~The Bad Girl RiRi~ It was love at first sight. I took it, i tried it on. It was the perfect my lips-but-better colour. It a beautiful matte. I particularly like matte lipstick. I don't like shiny lips and i am slowly opening up to lip glosses (more on that later....) i held on to it while browsing the shop for other things. The sale assistant had to ask for the lipstick back from me. I get so excited and carried away some time.

While holding on to Bad Girl Riri (hehe), i checked out their other 2013 collection Divine Night. Plum/Mauve is my favourite lipstick colour. I think it suits my skin tone best. The one lipstick that gets most wear from my lipstick collection is my Revlon's Mauvy Night (473). The only thing i don't like about it is the formula. It doesn't last long and it runs, so whenever i kiss my niece, i leave her with a kiss mark on her cheeks. It wasn't hard to decide which colour i wanted from the Divine Night - Private Party. Its a plum mauve with a satin finish. The shade is very pigmented. I left the shop wearing this and it held on for about 4 hours with a slight fade. YES! that's exactly what i wanted. I really like the gold and black packaging. It reminds me of Revlon's packaging, i feel like i am getting an updated version of my Mauvy Night.

I cant wait for tomorrow to come so i can wear my new lipstick out. Deciding on which one...will be a tough one! i might have to go back to MAC to get my deep wine lipstick i initially went for. Lol, my priorities.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

My first contact of this product was when i went on a weekend trip to Singapore. I was walking along one of the shopping malls (i cant remember which one) when a girl passed me a sample. By looking at the sample, i knew it was going to be a great product because the french always come up with good products. Like the Bioderma and the main reason of me going to Singapore to get my stock of Bioderma Crealine (and go to Universal Studio, haha!).

I didn't want to open my sample packet so i went to Sasa in BSC to test it out. i tested out the shimmer oil first which was a big mistake. I had shimmer glitter all over me, my hands, my arms, my face! To make it worse...i stupidly sprayed the oil on my hair straight instead of my hands first. so i had a blob of oily/shimmery bit on my hair. It was so messy and oily. i thought "No, this product is not for me."

That was a year ago...

Before i came back to KL from Perth for summer break, I was doing my 'last-minute' shopping in the city. I will never leave the city without going in Priceline, i have this unexplainable need to go into all the Priceline i see. I told myself, you cant buy anything because you are already over weight limit. You are there to look! Just look! but...pfft, i never listen to myself. while browsing the aisle, Priceline brought in a whole bunch of French cosmetics!! and my eyes landed at the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse. Okay, i thought, lets give this product a second try. *This* time i tried the original version. It was perfect timing as well because i just ombred my hair and my ends were screaming for moisture.

My hair fell in love with the prodigious oil. at that point, i didn't care if i had weight constraints, i want this oil!! so yeah....i got it. i didn't need to be told twice. I also use it on my body, i have been using Huile Prodigieuse for almost two week on my arms, elbows and legs before i sleep. My elbows are the driest part of my body and after two weeks, they are more moisturised and soft.

Sometimes before i sleep, i would lather some on my hair and sleep with braids. I wake up the next morning with soft wavy hair. I am trying to avoid using heat on my hair and have been experimenting with getting wavy/curly hair without heat. Will take on that more later.

You can get your huile prodigieuse at Sasa if you are in Malaysia or Priceline if you are in Australia.

Priceline (Australia) : AUD 39.90
Sasa (Malayasia): RM 148

From left to right: Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express mascara, Nars Blusher in Orgasm, Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Audacious Asphalt, Bobbi Brown Long Gel Eyeliner in Twilight, Chanel CC Cream

The Chanel CC cream - i first saw it while flipping through a magazine while waiting for my turn to thread my eyebrows. I am a bb cream ~lover~ when i saw CC cream, i was so intrigued (people always get up my pants when i use words like intrigued when talking about make up, but really!! its how i feel, anywayyy...) I told my mom about it and the Chanel loving woman went straight to the stores to get it.

One of my biggest regret was not reviewing it before buying. i was so caught up in the new CC cream hype. When i first tried it on, it was too white for me...and gave me a grey cast. In my defense, i put on too much...but really... it wasnt right. i gave it a try for a week and sadly...i stopped using it for a good few  months, until recently, i thought why not give it another chance.

The trick to wearing this CC cream for me is build up. A little goes a long way. When i mean little, think smaller than a pin size drop and build up when you need more. It does give a beautiful dewy finish thats last! I can still a slight glow at the end of the day.

I wouldnt recommend getting this, it is quite pricey for a small tube.  RM170 = AUD56 But if you have almost perfect skin and just looking for light coverage, this is perfect for you.

This is my 2nd post about this miracle product. This is my 3rd tube. I still have nothing but good words for it. Read first post here

How i use it: I spray my Lush Tea Tree Water, slather this miracle on my face and let it dry. I love it because it helps reduce my redness and help lighten my acne scars. I like the fact it matify my face because oh hell lord, my face is so oily, i could probably fry an egg on it. Another plus factor about this product is that its absorbs into your skin very fast. No sticky feeling after.
