ALBANY, WA

One of my fondest memories of 2014 was a roadtrip down south to Albany with my housemates! It was such a spontaneous trip and had all kinds of fun. We visited the beautiful natural bridge, hung out at Stephen's den and drove around Albany. I managed to take really great photos. :D Stephen brought us to a beautiful beach. Had lunch at a distillery. It was a quick two day trip that brought my housemates closer. Its been over 6 months and i refuse to delete my Albany photos off my phone. It was in Albany i managed to get over two of my biggest fears. Heights and the ocean. I have never been good with heights but hid it because i didnt want to look like a loser. Yes, i did skydiving the year before, i dont know. As scary as jumping off a plane at 14000ft, you still have this security feeling of being safe because you know there is someone behind you and you have a parachute on. But standing on top on the natural bridge, knowing there is nothing between you and the ocean floor. That was scary!

I love the beach. Beautiful sandy beaches with beautiful people to watch. Everytime i go to the beach, i am the one -> sitting on the sand taking care of the people's belonging, taking photos of myself or tanning. You will never see in the sea swimming or any more than knee height deep. My fascination for sharks has caused me to fear the sea/ocean. Okay, it may sound super silly... i watched too many sharks/deep ocean documentaries that it instilled fear in me. Sharks are majestic and deadly creatures. Whenever i think of the sea = sharks = eat people = stay away.

One of the beaches in Albany had a platform about 100 meters away from pier. I had my gopro with me and thought, omg! this will be such a good jump-in-the-sea video! It was for this sake, i decided to get over my fear of the sea and just jump it. How can there be a shark this close to the beach? Right? I had nothing stopping me. I can swim and beautiful sunny day. Winter was coming. I wont get beach time anymore. So i did it!! i took a deep breath and jumped in (as the video below!!). Only when Tina and i got to the platform - her friends from school came by the pier and shouted at us in a matter of fact tone "Tina! They closed the beach because there is a 16 foot shark swimming around here"
CAN YOU IMAGINE MY HORROR!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!? The day i decided to go in the waters...there is a shark swimming nearby!!!!!!!!! 16 foot shark!!!!! WTF!!!!!! Article here. I wasted no time, got back in the water and swam as fast as i could back to the pier. I had to hold myself together to make sure, i didnt break down crying. Safe to say, no more jumping in the sea for me.

Not a waterbaby.
