Super happy that i am getting some traffic to this little blog. i told myself that this year, i would blog twice a week. well, that didnt happen!

Updates on Kay's life:

#1
i started crossfit. This by far has been the most consistent fitness thing i have done in my whole life. I LOVE IT! I was one of those girls who thought weights will bulk you up and just stick to cardio to lose weight. in fact, i now want muscles. i want those sexy tricep arms. i started putting on weight on the scale but losing weight physically and it was messing with my mind. i decided to STOP weighing myself, ever. Muscles, lets build you up.

My deadlifts are 60kg (that is my body weight)
My push press/clean and jerks are 35kg

This was when i graduated from beginners classes to the prime classes
I still cant do a pull up and double unders. i bought a skipping rope to practise but i keep whipping myself that i stopped altogether. it hurts! i will continue soon enough. i cant wait to go back and do crossfit again. I thought of starting crossfit here, it takes too much effort to get to the gym and its really expensive here in Perth. So the only thing i am doing right now is bringing my fitness level up. i joined the Le Mils classes at the Curtin gym (Bodypump, FTW). Once you have fitness, everything else becomes easier.

Which brings to the second update,

#2
I started yoga. i realised i was getting stiff from crossfit and i am the least flexible person. it takes so much effort for me to touch my toes and by the time i can actually touch my toes, i am sweating buckets. i make sure i do some stretching in the morning when i wake up and do yoga twice a week.

#3
I am on my last semester of ever-studying-again (i hope). Mixed feelings like crazy, i have a love/hate relationship with Perth and the idea that i will be leaving here for good in less than 5 months scares me a little and the thought of moving back to KL and not have a reason to come back to Perth scares me more.

#4
one word: NETFLIX

I wanted to get Apple Tv and small screen to put in my room = $$$$$ but then, my Canadian housemate helped me set up netflix on my laptop for 8usd a month (Rm24). HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS UNLIMITED ACCESS TO ANY TV SERIES/MOVIES/DOCUMENTARIES. i have been watching documentaries about Titanic, Rome, Pompeii, Leonardo Da Vinci, Hitler, Sharks, Killer Whales, Ghost Adventures, Crime stories and so many more. Sit with me and ask me to tell you about Titanic, i can tell you how Titanic sank. If you ask nicely, i can help you set up Netflix on your computer :D.

That is all, until next time.

my first globe

Sunday, 26 January 2014

So right after i wrote the entry below, i went straight to the shops to look for my globe/world map! okay, my initial plan was to shop for clothes but that didnt happen when i walked in Typo just to "see" if they had globes aaaannndd they did. They had a small one, perfect for a desktop and a medium sized one like picture above.

This was an impluse buy, i felt i like needed to have a globe and it didnt matter which map it had. I dont particularly like the map on my globe, i think its a map of cargo ships. I am going to wait on my next globe, not going to force it.

I have this vision of myself when i get back from Perth for good, i work, i travel, i settle down and move into my beautiful house, where i will get an office to myself! (note future husband) I am one of those who needs her alone time and can only do work in TOTAL silence. No music. No sound. Total silence. Sounds/music distract me from thinking. I see myself spending alot of time in this room. So i went on pinterest and did a whole board for my future home office.

White room with loads of lights

I want a white room with loads of sun light, natural lighting and wooden themed cupboards. I find white and brown very soothing.

I want a huge world map on my wall. What not many people know about me is that i like geography and knowing where countries are at. It became a natural thing for me to love maps and globes. Sometimes during my late i-cant-sleep nights, i would look on Ebay and Amazon for globes, but none are what i am looking for. i can buy the normal blue globe, but i dont want to force it. i want to wait for the right globe for me to fall in love with and go, yes! you are worth the wait! Dramatic, i know. to be honest, i dont know why i dont have a world map yet... maybe i should go get one later.

I think it is very important that companies, offices or any work spaces invest in a good chair for their employees. You will be sitting on that chair the whole day and in the long run, something is going to hurt, either your ass, back, neck, knees and etc. I NEED my chair to be BIG, comfortable and PLUSH swivel chair. One where i can push back and stretch my legs on my table, 60%

  1. Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation in 70 watts
  2. Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in 53
  3. Bourjois Blush in 35 Lune D'or
  4. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Instense Black
  5. Burt's Bees Lipbalm in Pink Grapefruit
  6. Benefit - The Porefessional Primer
  7. Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder in Beige
I wear eyeliner almost everyday and to my surprise... i dont own a single black liquid eyeliner! Off i went to Sephora and of course, no one goes into Sephora and come out with ONE thing. Besides eyeliner, i needed a new foundation that matched my current skin tone. I got the Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation, i was abit sceptical about the "illuminating" part but it turned out okay. The first itme i tried it on, i forgot to take off before going to the gym, when i got home to shower, the foundation and eyeliner stayed on good! Definitely a yes especially after sweating and all my running around.

Ombre Hair with Loreal Wild Ombre kit

Wednesday, 15 January 2014

It all started with wanting to look different but still maintain my long hair. It took me almost 3 years to grow my hair to the length it is now, which is almost passing my chest level. I decided to get bangs! Straight blunt bangs. The minute I stepped out from the salon, I regretted them. I realised I didn't know how to manage and maintain my bangs! The pictures below were one of the few times I actually wore them, if not I would pin them aside or part my hair in a way that it blends with my other layers.

As my hair grew longer, I decided that it was time to cut it! I wanted shoulder length hair and bangs again and decided to think it through. I played with the idea in my head for a good month deciding that before I cut my hair, I want to do ombre. I have always liked the low maintenance and stylish bit of the ombre style and thought why not? If I didn't like it, I can always cut it off. Just my luck, I was googling how to do ombre at home. I found the Loreal Wild Ombre kit on youtube!!! It's a hair dye kit specifically for people who want to do ombre by themselves. The next day, I went to Priceline to get it, but sadly the Priceline near my house did not stock the Loreal Wild Ombre kit and I was quite taken back by the price of it, it was selling for AUD18 a box, (when converted to ringgit, it is about rm60 a box) it was a little pricey.

I don't know what came across me, I decided to see if Coles or IGA has it. Coles had it and it was even better, it was on discount! it was around AUD13 if I was not mistaken, I picked up two boxes. I bought two boxes because my hair is very thick and I know I won't achieve the shade with one session.

I did not try it until a few weeks after it, mostly because I was anxious, nervous and scared that I might ruin my hair due to the bleaching (which I did *sad face*)

First attempt - A very light gradient.

Second attempt - this time you can definitely see the ombre effect. Because I bleached my hair from black, my hair turned brownish/orangey/brassy. It was so ugly... I had to tone it to make it look less brassy. I borrowed my housemate's purple conditioner to help tone my hair and *thank god* it did "tone" my hair a little. it was less brassy and orange. Blue shampoo to tone orange hair and purple shampoo to tone blonde hair. yeah, blue shampoo is so hard to find in Perth.

Third attempt - i wasn't 100% happy with the colour the 2nd time. I decided to redye is again, this time I was happy with the ombre effect, but I wasn't happy with my dry ends. I take good care of my hair where I deep mask my hair religiously, getting dry ends was a bit of a shocker for me. That's when I decided to stop dying my hair for at least 6 months. My poor hair! By this time, I was packing up to go back to Malaysia for my summer break and the first thing I did when I got back was get my long needed haircut! my beloved hairstylist chopped off the dry ends and gave my hair a better style to show off my ombre.

My current hair as of January 2014
L: Straight hair  R: Curled hair

Now, I don't think I am going to cut my hair anytime soon with all the effort that went through to get to current state! I am going to let my hair breathe before I do another hair dye job. ''
